Assistant Manager Kenny Lunt says that the arrival of Daniel Powell will only intensify the competition for places in the forward positions. Powell, 28, can play various roles as a front runner and Lunt says that the competition for producing assists and goals has only been enhanced by the signing of the former Northampton Town man.

Lunt told crewealex.net: “Daniel can play in various positions up the top. He can play left, right or through the middle. He is a powerful runner, quick and can take a goal and his arrival will only make for more competition for places.

“That is only good for us because we had good competition at the back end of last season and that helped with the results.

“That is what we want to create again and have the players push each other to improve.”
