Artell: "I Won't Allow Us To Be Left With Slim Pickings At The End Of The Window"

Boss still busy behind the scenes trying to bring more new faces in

David Artell says that he continues to try and attract permanent signings to the club but he has not ruled out loan signings occurring later on. The Alex boss had already conducted some early business, by signing defender Olly Lancashire and forward Daniel Powell but he is still looking to bolster his squad ahead of the new season.

When questioned about the possibility of loan signings, Artell told the club’s official website: “At this stage we are still looking at permanent players but I won’t rule out loan signings.

“It will be about what we need, supply and demand and what we can afford. When you make a loan signing for six months or the year, it can work out cheaper but then you have to balance it out by giving them enough game time. It can be difficult.

“We will continue to look to bring players in who can improve us and make that competition. It is fairly quiet still in the market but what I don’t want to do is be left with the slim pickings at the end and that is why I am pleased to have done the business we have done so far.

“We have to choose wisely and invest accordingly but if the opportunity is there to further improve us then we look to take it.

He added: “There is nothing imminent at the moment but you never know what is around the corner in this game.”
