Boss: "The Fixtures Are What They Are"

Gaffer jokes that a virus must have got in the computer again as Crewe get three long away trips on a Tuesday night yet again...

David Artell has told the club’s official website that the new fixtures are what they are and that his team will approach each game as it comes.

Crewe Alexandra kick off the new season against Plymouth Argyle on Saturday 3rd August and have also been drawn Middlesbrough in the Carabao Cup first round.

Following the release of the new EFL fixtures for League Two, Artell said:  “We have to play them all and it is what it is. We have Plymouth first up and we have drawn Middlesbrough away in the cup. It is what it is. You just have to get on with it.

“We have some long trips on a Tuesday night. It is always the same. I was talking to the old bus driver as Baz’s funeral and he was telling me that he had made three trips to Colchester on a Tuesday night when he was driving for the club.

“It must be that old virus in the computer system again because it keeps coming up.

“The players are back in Thursday and we will train on Friday and Saturday as well and get back into it.

He added: “They will have to be fit enough to cope to make sure we are up and running into the season.”
