Crewe Alexandra face Wrexham in our final pre-season game at the weekend and manager David Artell expects a sterner test at the Racecourse Ground than we faced in mid-week at Whitchurch and Bala Town.
Crewe take on Bryan Hughes’ Red Dragons in our final warm up fixture ahead of the seasonal opener against Plymouth Argyle on 3rd August.
Artell told the club’s official website: “Wrexham play football. They certainly do not whack it but they can be direct when they want to be and that will be a good test for us.
“They will be really fit and will get amongst us, so it is important we keep the ball well and make the right decisions. It will be a really good test for us before the start of the season.
“It is making sure we are ready for the first games of the season, not just the first one. August and September are usually really busy because of the cup games as well, so it isn’t just about peaking for Plymouth.
He added: “Wrexham will be the ideal test for us in and out of possession. It is the first time we have gone there for a while for a friendly and I’m sure they will ask us plenty of questions in the game, which is what we want.”
