Powell's Ability To Play Various Roles Will Help Us Tactically

12 July 2019

Alex Morris says that new summer signing Daniel Powell has already shown his versatility to play both wide and through the middle when necessary.

Powell, 28, opened his account with a well taken close range finish at Nantwich when playing centrally with trialist Paul Taylor and Morris says that his ability to play different roles will certainly help the staff tactically this season.

Morris explained: “Daniel played through the middle at Nantwich and got his first goal. It was good for him to get an early goal for the club and I am sure the supporters who went to the game could see glimpses of his power and pace.

“He can play through the middle and has the pace to get in behind but he has played most of his football out wide on the left, and he has the ability to go past players and take them on. He could be a good partner for someone like a Porter or he has shown during his career that he can cut in and take a shot.

“He has played his football at a higher level than League Two, so we know he is more than good enough to be a key player for us. We will work with him but I am sure he will show the qualities he has always shown throughout his career.”
