Morris: "If We Had Finished In The Top 7 Perry Would Have Gone By Now"

9 July 2019

Alex Morris, the club’s first team coach, firmly believes that if Perry Ng had been in a side that had finished in the top seven last season he wouldn’t be at Crewe Alexandra at this present moment.

Morris says that the club have received no offers for any of our players but say that Ng’s consistent performances over the last two seasons would have seen him move on if we had finished in a play-off position.

Morris told the club’s official website: “I believe that if we had finished in the top 7, Perry would have gone by now. Clubs look at players who are winning games and finishing high in the league.

“It is part of the profile for recruitment. Clubs will look at a player with a winning mentality and think I could do with some of that in my club. It makes sense.

“They will look at a players’ attributes and all the components that make up a good player. They will look at their character on and off the pitch and then if they are used to winning.

“When we have sold players on in the past, it is more often than not on the back of a successful season, so that is what we will be aiming to do again. We have to sell players to balance the books.

He added: “At this moment in time, we have not any contact from any other clubs in relation to our players.”
