Morris: "We Are Still Aiming To Bring Another Couple In"

10 July 2019

Alex Morris says that the club’s staff continue to work hard to bring in another couple of new faces before the end of the summer transfer window but the club’s first-team coach says that we can rely on our promising youngsters to emerge if we don’t acquire the right players with the right characters before the deadline of 2nd September.

The first team coach reiterated that the manager’s priority remain another centre-half and forward to bolster his options in those areas of the pitch after losing Michael Raynes, George Ray, Jordan Bowery and Alex Nicholls this summer.

Morris told the club’s official website: “Players come and go most summers and we have been pleased with the two we have been able to bring in so far. They have settled in quickly and are good characters.

“We would like to bring in another couple in and I don’t think it is a secret that we would like a centre-half and forward.

“Finding a forward who is going to score 15 goals, can provide assists and is the right character and a centre-half who can head the ball in both boxes and helps us keep 15 clean-sheets are not easy to find. They are virtually impossible but one pops up every now and again.

Morris added: “We have a good number of players and if we cannot find the ones we need to improve us then it just means that there are more opportunities for our own players and this is what this club is based on.”
