The Alex assistant boss talks after overseeing the pre-season win at Curzon Ashton
Kenny Lunt was impressed by the dominant nature of the Crewe performance after he oversaw the side beat Curzon Ashton 5-1 in a pre-season friendly.
The Alex controlled the game throughout againt the National League North opponents & were five up until the final ten minutes when legs began to tire & the Nash notched a consolation goal.
Charlie Kirk, Lewis Reilly & Paul Green found the net along with trialists Paul Taylor & Harvey Smith in what was a convincing performance in Greater Manchester on a good playing surface.
Lunt told iFollow The Alex: “I thought we played well. I thought it was a very professional performance & they got what they needed out of the game.
“I thought we were excellent. I thought the application, desire & drive to perform was there. I said to them before to set the standards to live up to & they’ve got to be consistent to match those standards & not let them drop.
“It was good to practice in the game the things we’ve been practicing through the week, but the main thing is we’ve come through the game with no injuries.
“On the whole we did the right things throughout, but I thought we got sloppy towards the end as people got tired, but that will come. We’ll get the sloppiness out of them & hopefully it will all come together for the first game of the season.”
