Boss: "We Should Have Achieved More Last Season"

4 July 2019

Crewe boss says that the potential is there to have a better season than last time out.

David Artell has told crewealex.net that ‘past performances cannot predict the future’ and that we start with a clean-slate this season.

The Crewe Alexandra boss says that to be only two wins away from a play-off place was some achievement considering that we won just four away games during the season.

David told the club’s official website: “The past performances and results cannot make future predictions. We start again on 3rd August.

“Yes, we were two wins off a possible play-off place and to be not that far off was an achievement because we only won four away games.

“If you thing that was satisfactory it’s not, we should have achieved more last season. We are not a million miles off but there is plenty of room for improvement.

“The league will be stronger this year and I think there are some bigger clubs than last year, who will have bigger budgets and whatever but that was the same last year, the year before that, the year before that and the year before that.

The boss added: “That is the nature of the beast and we have to look after ourselves and make sure we are competitive.”
