Artell Still Very Interested In Loan Market

31 July 2019

David Artell has not ruled out improving his options by bringing in players in on loan before the end of the summer transfer window. The club have until 2nd September to finalise their deals for the first half of the season and the Crewe boss admits that he expects some movement with players eager to get fixed up.

The Crewe boss would obviously like permanent signings first, with a centre-half and a centre-forward his priority, but he is not ruling out bringing in players in on loan like he did with Corey Whelan and Kevin O’Connor last summer.

He told crewealex.net: “I am sure there will be some real movement in the last few weeks of the transfer window. We have extended time to bring players in and of course we would be interested in getting players in on loan if I think they would make a difference to us.

“We have seven games to play before the window closes and that is a large chunk of games. There could be injuries or a manager may look to offload players because they won’t get in or they haven’t prove that they can do it in 3 or 4 games.

He joked: “I am happy with the numbers I have and if we lose Kirk for example then Bale is available, so that is how it works!

“You can only cross the bridge when something happens and we haven’t had any offers for any of our players.”
