Boss has been impressed with Miller's application over the summer.
David Artell has revealed that he will do what is right for striker Shaun Miller this summer.
Miller is available on a free transfer after finding his chances limited last season due to a change in formation, but Artell says that he would be more than happy to retain his services if nothing materialises for the Alsager-based forward.
Miller has a year of his contract still to run at Gresty Road but after finding it difficult to hold down a regular place in Artell’s starting XI (he started just 16 games last season), the boss is prepared to let him move on if it suits all parties.
David told the club’s official website: “Nothing has changed with Shaun. If he wants to leave then he can. We had that discussion a long time ago and nothing has changed with that.
“The door is open for him and I’ve already said that if he stays then he stays. If he does stay then we have a 31-year-old player with a proven track record of scoring goals in the EFL.
“I’m really in no rush for him to leave. He knows that I cannot afford him the game time he probably wants at this stage of his career.
“As a former team-mate of mine and a good servant of this football club, I will do the right thing by Shaun, like I would with any player in his situation.
He added: “If he does stay then he will have to take his opportunities like anyone else. I must say he has worked hard over the summer and he is looking sharp and good in training.”
