18 January 2019

Crewe Alexandra manager, David Artell, has praised the achievement of the MK Dons defender Dean Lewington as he prepares to make his 600th league appearance for the club against his Crewe Alexandra side this weekend.

The 34-year-old full-back is a one club man and captains the MK Dons and over the course of his superb career, he has made an amazing 760 appearances in all competitions.

Artell, who made over 500 career appearances himself during his playing days has side it is a fantastic achievement in the modern game for a player to reach such a milestone.

Ahead of our meeting with Paul Tisdale’s side, the Alex boss said: “Dean (Lewington) is making his 600th league appearance for the MK Dons this weekend and that is a terrific achievement.

“There is no one in our ranks who is close to that, maybe Greeny has played a lot of games, and I cannot tell you how difficult it is to do that. What is even more remarkable is that Dean is a one club man.

He added: “MK Dons have a big squad and very good players. They also have experienced players like Dean and good young players too.”
