David Artell was a delighted manager on Saturday evening as his Crewe Alexandra side found another way to win, this time against play-off hopefuls Colchester United. The Railwaymen had to come from behind at half-time to grind out another superb three points following goals from Charlie Kirk and Eddie Nolan.
The former Republic of Ireland International, Nolan, headed home a Paul Green cross in the 87th to seal the points and move Crewe to 11th in the table.
Following the hard fought 2-1 win, Artell said: “The lads found a way to win the game again and they deserve great credit. They stayed in the game and after we tweaked one or two things at half-time I thought that we get stronger as the game went on.
“They had a lot of possession but I cannot recall Ben making too many saves and I thought that we looked the more likely side to go on and win it in the last 20 minutes and so it proved.
“Colchester are a well organised side and a tough nut to crack. We had to grind them down and we did that. We showed another side of our game to do that and it was a terrific win for us.”
