'We Will Respect Newport But Cannot Fear Them'

10 January 2019

Boss hoping that home form will continue against last weekend's FA Cup giant killers.

David Artell has told the club’s official website that Crewe Alexandra will respect FA Cup giant killers Newport County like all opponents.

Michael Flynn’s Exiles made national headlines following a superb and thoroughly deserved 2-1 win over Leicester City on Sunday and they will now be aiming to get their league form back on track at Gresty Road this weekend.

Artell was impressed with the way Newport performed against Premier League opposition last week and knows that it will be another challenge for his own team as we aim for our first win in three games.

David told crewealex.net: “We are always respectful of our opponents and we have done our homework on the strengths and weaknesses of Newport like any other club we face.

“We never take anyone lightly, especially after they have just beaten a Premier League side and we know it will be a tough game. They all are but it is also important to focus on what we can do. We have to concentrate on ourselves and we know that if we can perform like we can then we can beat anyone in this league.

"The Lincoln game proved that and it is up to us to replicate that type of performance.

“It doesn’t matter if it is Newport, MK Dons, Morecambe or Colchester, the players will know what the opposition are particularly good and bad at.”
