Raynes Could Move For First Team Football

9 January 2019

David Artell has told the club’s official website that he has had one or two enquires about the availability of defender Michael Raynes, but those managers later lost their jobs!

Artell says he will speak with the vastly experienced Raynes in relation to his future.

The 31-year-old centre-half has found himself behind George Ray, Perry Ng and Eddie Nolan this season but has still performed admirably when called upon to fill in.

With Nicky Hunt starting ahead of him at Morecambe on Saturday, it looks likely that Raynes will be allowed to depart the club during the January transfer window in search of more regular first-team action.

Raynes has still made 10 appearances this season and has played for and captained the Under-23s on a number of occasions to keep up his match fitness levels.

David told the club’s official website: “I have taken one or two phone calls about Michael but unfortunately those managers lost their jobs.

“I will talk to Michael to establish what he wants to do in January. “
