Jonah: "No-One Will Fancy Coming To Our Place At The Moment"

10 January 2019

Crewe Alexandra midfielder James Jones believes that the return of seven points from our four festive games was a pretty decent return but he and his team-mates are still increasingly frustrated that we haven’t been able to record that second away win of the season to go with the 1-0 win over Stevenage back in October.

Jones took his own personal tally to five goals for the season with the opening goal against Morecambe last weekend – but it took an injury time penalty from Chris Porter to salvage only our sixth away point of the campaign.

Ahead of our home game against Newport this weekend, Jonah said:  “I think when we look back over the Christmas period we will think that seven points isn’t too bad when you consider the fixtures we had. We would have probably taken that beforehand, but there is still that frustration that it could have been more.

“We felt that the Morecambe game was one we should and could have won. We were all disappointed afterwards not to have won that one. We felt that we should have won it, especially after taking the lead.

“Our away results have to turn around and as quickly as possible.

“Our home form has been good and I think we cope well with the pressure at home. I don’t think many clubs will fancy coming to our place because of how we can play at home but we have to transfer that into more of the away games.”
