David Artell has praised the ‘extraordinary job’ that Michael Flynn has undertaken at Newport County AFC. Flynn remarkably guided the club to safety in 2017 and they have been on an upward curve since, finishing 11th last season and only last week knocking Leicester City out of the FA Cup.
Artell says that Newport’s style and commitment mirror Flynn as a player and that they will be a tough test this weekend at Gresty Road.
The Alex boss told us: “Newport’s recent run has not been as fruitful as it has normally has been but they had that terrific result against Leicester on Sunday. They deserved it. They defended superbly and put their bodies on the line.
“I admire that and their supporters demand it. They are a blood and thunder team and it gets results. They are an up and at you team, get in your faces and make things difficult.
He added: “Michael has done an extraordinary job at Newport I must say. He has them heading in the right direction and he deserves the plaudits coming his way. His team mirror him as a player. We have to match that and expose their weaknesses with the qualities we have but we know it will a tough game because they always are against Newport.”
