David Artell is sure that Newport County’s outstanding FA Cup victory over Leicester City on Sunday will galvanise their confidence after what has been a ‘sticky patch’ for them in the league. The Welsh side rose to the occasion to claim a Premier League scalp and secure a fourth round tie at Middlesbrough later this month.

Before that giant killing act, Michael Flynn’s Exiles had won one of their last seven league matches.

Ahead of our meeting at Gresty Road, Artell told the club’s official website: “Newport have had a bit of sticky patch with their league form but their result in the FA Cup is sure to galvanise them.

“It will be another tough game because Michael and his team have a great work ethic and players who can hurt you in the final third but our home form has been very good. We haven’t lost many at home and we have to make sure that it continues on Saturday.”
