Boss Praise For Superb Pro Porter

8 January 2019

David Artell has praised the recent contribution of his in-form striker Chris Porter. The veteran striker has been in great form since returning to the starting XI over the festive period and he goes into Saturday’s home game against Newport County aiming to score his fifth goal in five games.

Porter’s last minute penalty at Morecambe on Saturday salvaged a point and Artell has been impressed with the way he has led the line for us since being recalled.

David told the club’s official website: “Chris has been doing really well for us in recent weeks. He has played the role we have asked of him exceptionally well but it doesn’t surprise us.

“To play the last four games and to score in each of them is terrific and all credit to him. He is a great pro and he works hard every day. I believe that you reap what you sow in life and Chris is an example of that. The harder he works the more output he gets.

“He hasn’t sulked but just got on with things. He has told me a couple of times that he is unhappy not to be playing more but that’s fine. He hasn’t fallen away but has got down to work and he is getting his rewards.”
