David Artell has told the club’s official website that he knows that he has to address his side’s goalscoring issue in the second half of the season. The Alex boss is looking for more goals from all over the pitch and he has certainly not ruled out bringing in another striker during the January transfer window.
Artell is currently relying on Chris Porter and midfielder James Jones for goals. Those two players netted all of our six goals over the festive period between them and the boss says that others have to chip in to help out.
Artell told the club’s official website: “We know the area we have to try and address. If we can add more goals to the team then we should win more games, it is as simple as that.
“At the moment Chris (porter) is doing really well for us. We have simplified his game and he is playing the role really well. He has scored four goals in four games and that has been crucial for us.
“James Jones has chipped in with a couple of goals in recent weeks and we need more players doing the same. We need more goals in the team.
“We know we have to address that area because we have defended reasonably well this season. It is the one area we have to improve whereas last season, it was one thing one week and then something else the following week.
He added: “I think we are a lot better side than we were last season but we know we have to be more fruitful when it comes to points in the second half of the season.”
