Artell: "We Have Managed To Walk Through The Door"

29 January 2019

Boss pleased that we have made the step ino the top half but he wants run to propel us even higher.

Crewe Alexandra manager David Artell says his team have finally ‘gone through the door’ to move into mid-table.

Crewe are on a run of five wins from the last seven games and our late comeback win over Colchester United has now taken us to 11th place.

Artell had made that a target and now he says it is on to the next one and a possible assault on the play-offs.

David told the club’s official website: “We had the opportunity to do it before and not taken it. We had a chance against Mansfield and then Oldham and if we had won we would have gone 11th or so but we lost both those home games.

“We couldn’t get through that door but we have managed that now. So now, it’s like okay, that one is done, keep going.

“We have to keep on walking and the next one is can we get 9th, 8th and into the top 7? I don’t know how many points we are off the play-offs but that is what we have to keep striving for.

“Like I said on Saturday, 41 points is nothing to write home about but we are heading in the right direction and the mindset of the players is good. The belief is there and only thing that can stop them is themselves. "
