Boss on a terrific away day at Stadium MK as Kirk finishes off superb team goal to give us all three points!
David Artell was a delighted manger as his excellent Crewe Alexandra side deserved to defeat MK Dons 1-0 on their own patch this evening. A fantastic team goal finished off by winger Charlie Kirk on 32 minutes proved to be the difference as Crewe cemented their 14th place in the league table. THe Railwaymen have now moved within six points of the top seven.
Following the 1-0 win at Stadium MK, Artell told the club’s official website: “I said that it was the best two footballing sides in the division and I think I was right. It was a great game to watch and you have to credit MK Dons as well because they play the right way as well. They are a good side.
“They have one of the best home records in the league and you can see why. They make it hard and they get after you. They hunt you down and have good players, but I thought our performance was terrific. We gave as good as we got and we scored a terrific goal. It came from our goalkeeper and Charlie finished it off.
“That is his job to create and score goals and over the calendar year he is past double figures, and as a winger that is a good return. He has to keep that going.
“They had that one chance with Chuks but it was a foul on George Ray in the build up and the referee missed it.
“The mentality is changing. They are beginning to believe that they can do it. We are heading in the right direction. We haven’t cracked it by a long stretch but we are doing alright at the moment. It is one defeat defeat in six and I have been in their position in the dressing room and it becomes 1 in 8, 1 in 12, 1 in 17 or whatever and then that is the end of the season. That is what we have to aim for and the players have to believe.
He added: “Ultimately they have to become winners and be a success in life and they are capable because they are good players.”
