David Artell says that Shaun Miller’s second half contribution with the winning goal against his former club last night reflects what our squad is all about.
The Crewe Alexandra boss said following our hard fought 2-1 win over a very good Carlisle United side that Miller is the perfect example of delivering when called upon.
His tidy finish from Eddie Nolan’s subtle touch for the assist gave Crewe Alexandra their fifth straight home win and sets us up for an intriguing class with Paul Scholes’ Oldham side at the weekend.
Artell says that we will need all members of his squad to be fit and ready when called upon because we may need them in the run-in.
The Alex boss told the club’s official website: “Shaun took his goal really well. He is a finisher and that is why he is. I wouldn’t have bought him back to the club if I didn’t know that he was. You want him in those positions and you would back him because him and Lewis (Reilly) take goals like that in training every day.
“We will need Shaun. We will need all those players who may be on the bench or out of the side at the moment. I told them that in the dressing room afterwards that they have to be ready.
“The two new lads here on loan haven’t kicked a ball yet and they are chomping at the bit. They are good players and have been terrific in training. Nicky Hunt was left off the bench and that wasn’t because he didn’t warm up right at Macclesfield! He has been terrific for us when we have needed him.
“Alex Nicholls hasn’t been in the squad for the last two games but we will need him at some point. Tom Lowery has come back into it. Owen Dale has made an impact as a substitute. We will need all of them.”
