Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell says that the appointment of Paul Scholes at Oldham Athletic is ‘terrific’ for League Two.
Crewe travel to Boundary Park this weekend aiming to extend our unbeaten run to seven matches but we face a new-look Oldham under the former Manchester United and England legend.
Ahead of our trip to Oldham, Artell told the club’s official website: “I think it is a terrific thing that Paul has taken the job. He is a bit different from Sol (Campbell) because Oldham is his club. Sol just wanted a chance and Macclesfield gave him the job.
“It is great for our league and after Saturday’s game, I wish him all the very best.
“Paul was one of the best midfield players in the world, so it will great to go up against him and his team this weekend.”
“A player of Paul’s calibre should get those opportunities and perhaps higher up the ladder but it is doesn’t matter if you are Paul, Sol, me or Steven Pressley, it is a tough job.
He added: “You have get things right more often than not and if there is anything I have learned in the two years so far, is that you have to stick with your beliefs and principles.”
