David Artell says that Chris Porter has embraced his new role in the team and it is paying dividends with his performances and goal return. The vastly experienced forward is in a rich vein of form and his opener against Carlisle United last night takes his personal tally to seven goals in his last nine games. He has ten in total for the season.
Following another Porter goal in a 2-1 win over Carlisle, Artell said of his in-form striker: “We have done some work with Chris and although I don’t want to go into too much detail, he is playing to his strengths.
“He is a clever guy Chris and a top professional and he is able to take things on board very quickly. He has made one or two subtle changes, we have made one or two to help him and it is paying dividends.
“He can score all types of goals and is always a threat in the air. He is a focal point of our attack and we can work off him and around him.
“He now has double figures and that is a great return because he didn’t play as much as we would liked in the first half of the season.”
