Kenny Lunt has praised Sol Campbell for quickly changing around the philosophy and fortunes of our local neighbours Macclesfield Town.
The former Arsenal, Spurs, Newcastle and England defender has had to wait patiently for his opportunity in front line management - but he is certainly grasping his chance with both hands at the Moss Rose. Campbell has come into the job and given the Silkmen more than a fighting chance of remaining the Football League.
Lunt, who took in their game at Mansfield at the weekend with David Artell has been impressed with the turnaround.
The club’s assistant manager said: “Having watched Macclesfield at Mansfield on Saturday and the clips we have seen, you can see that Sol has come in and changed the style. They play a lot more football and the philosophy has changed in a short space of time.
“Sol has been able to bring in a few players in January and slowly but surely he will mould the team he wants. It may still take the summer but they are heading in the right direction.
“He is passing on his knowledge as a top player to his players and you can see the difference. They are well organised and we know that it is always a tough place to go at the best of times.
“We know our away form has to improve. We got a great win at MK Dons in our last away game so the players know they can do it. If they look after their individual performances then the team performance usually comes with that.
Kenny added: “You can never guarantee a result in football because anything can happen but if the players play to their best then that gives us the best chance.”
