Kenny Lunt says that a trip to Moss Rose is a difficult fixture in itself never mind when the club have already significantly improved under their new manager Sol Campbell. The former England International defender has certainly added his elite level experience to our Cheshire neighbours and having climbed off the bottom of the table, the Silkmen are now eyeing safety.
The Silkmen are currently two points behind Morecambe but the Shrimpers have a game in hand.
Ahead of this weekend’s fixture, Lunt told us: “Macc are a good team and play the right way under Sol. It is a tough place to go but they have their strengths and weaknesses and it is up to us to play to our potential.
“Macclesfield have gradually improved under Sol but we have shown at MK Dons that we can go away from home and perform. It wasn’t as if we were hanging in the game at the end either. We were fairly comfortable and controlled in those last 20 minutes and the players had that belief.
He added: “When we play like we can then we have shown that we can compete with any team in the division.”
