Assistant manager, Kenny Lunt, believes that the loan captures of full-backs, Jamie Sterry and Aaron Taylor-Sinclair will give us more options due to the versatility of Perry Ng and Harry Pickering.
Lunt says it was important to bring in players during the January window only if they were going to provide real competition for places.
Lunt told crewealex.net: “We didn’t want players just to come here to make up the numbers and sit on the bench. We want them to be pushing the others for a place in the team.
“The ones we have managed to bring in give us those options. They will offer that cover and competition in the full-back positions but they would also free up the opportunity to change the team around if needs be because Perry and Harry can play all sorts of positions.
“If someone isn’t performing well enough then there is a chance to change the team in every position now. I think it is a good squad.
“We didn’t want to bring players in during January who wouldn’t improve us. We didn’t want numbers and our lads are doing well, so they would have a real possibility that they wouldn’t have played and most clubs look to get their players out to play regularly.”
