Artell: "Point Was Deserved In The End At Boundary Park"

19 February 2019

Crewe Alexandra manager David Artell feels that his in-form side deserved a point from their visit to Boundary Park at the weekend. The Alex kept plugging away in the game and eventually forced home an equaliser when George Ray spectacularly converted a cross from Tom Lowery in the 93rd minute.

It was another point on the road for the Alex and keeps our unbeaten run going to seven games.

Having reviewed the game again, Artell told crewealex.net: “I thought that the performance deserved a point in the end. It wasn’t a particularly good game to watch and I am sure it wasn’t that great to play in.

“I said afterwards that the pitch was tricky but it was still two teams trying to do the right things. I am sure the ability of both teams would show up far better on a better pitch.

“In the end a draw was a fair result and we got our reward for having a right good go. The belief that we were going to score and get something from the game was there again. It was another point and a good point when you consider all the circumstances surrounding the game.

“I’m sure Oldham will be fancying their chances of the play-offs. They have a bright, young manager with his own ideas and they are in the mix with about another ten clubs. The league is very open at the moment.”
