Boss: "Jamie Just Has To Be Patient"

26 February 2019

Boss says he knows that we have a talented player on our hands and says that Newcastle youngster will get his chance.

David Artell says that his loan player Jamie Sterry came to him asking to play a game for Newcastle United’s Under-23s. Sterry duly scored in Newcastle’s 3-1 defeat to Leeds United last night.

The talented right-back has joined Crewe on loan until the end of the season but he has had to wait patiently for his ‘second debut’ for the club due to the impressive form of Perry Ng ahead of him and the fact that Crewe had gone seven games unbeaten before the 2-1 defeat to Exeter City.

David explained to the club’s official website: “Jamie came to me and said he needed a game. We have a game at Burton on Wednesday but he said that he wanted to go up and play for Newcastle and I said that’s fine.

“He played, he scored and that’s all good. It is good for him to play and I will ring Newcastle later today. Jamie will be off tomorrow and ready to train again Thursday. He is a good player, we know that but he just has to be patient because of how the team had been playing. He has been fine.”
