David Artell praised the ability and agility of his skipper George Ray in scoring a dramatic late equaliser at Boundary Park on Saturday but says that the centre-half should score more!
Ray has now scored two in his last three games after also scoring late on away at Macclesfield Town but his manager wants more from the former Wales Under-21 International.
In fairness to Ray, there are not many defenders who have more efforts cleared off the line or saved than the Crewe captain this season!
It is no exaggeration to suggest if you tot them up he could well be sat on double figures!
Following his stoppage-time heroics against Oldham Athletic, the boss said: "George was up there to score, and he should get more.
“He did brilliantly to control the cross and then have the awareness to prod it home. He get his leg so high and it was terrific technique. It was a really good finish from him and he should be a major threat from set pieces and from crosses going into the box.
"In the last few weeks he’s looked more like it, he’s a terrific header of the ball and he’s brave."
