Artell: "Up To Us To Keep The Momentum Going"

8 February 2019

David Artell says that his Crewe Alexandra side are eager to continue their good run of form at our Cheshire neighbours, Macclesfield Town, this weekend. Crewe didn’t have a fixture last weekend as the weather put paid to our scheduled home game against Carlisle United, so Artell is hoping that our building momentum can continue at Moss Rose.

Ahead of the Cheshire derby, the Alex boss said: “It will be another test and another challenge for the players. Macclesfield are much improved under Sol (Campbell) and them being second from bottom is irrelevant because they are a far better team now than when we played them earlier in the season.

“We wanted to play last week but it wasn’t possible. We prepared the same but we couldn’t predict the weather. The club has re-arranged it as quickly as possible but our only focus is Macclesfield.

“When a game is postponed you just have to get on with it. It is football. We just have to make sure our momentum continues. We have to make sure we play like we have been and believe like we have been doing because that has generated positive results.”
