Crewe Alexandra welcome Carlisle United to Gresty Road on New Year's Day, hoping to kick off 2020 in the best possible way - with three points.

The Alex bounced back from Boxing Day defeat at Salford, winning 3-1 at home to Scunthorpe United on Sunday and maintaing their spot in third.

Carlisle were also winners on Sunday, with a late Harry McKirdy winner handing Chris Beech his first league win as manager.

The two sides met earlier in the season, with Crewe winning 4-2 away at Boundary Park, and Dave Artell will hope for a similar outcome on Wednesday.
