Porter Hamstring Injury Deemed 'Not Too Serious"

Alex boost as leading scorer on the way back to full fitness

Chris Porter’s hamstring injury is ‘nothing too serious’ according to boss David Artell. The club’s leading goalscorer with 10 goals this season was forced to miss Saturday’s home game against Mansfield after failing to shake off the muscle strain he suffered in the first half against Eastleigh in the FA Cup.

Porter’s replacement, Chuma Anene netted again in the 1-1 draw with the Stags and Crewe bosss David Artell say they will continue to monitor Porter ahead of travelling to Stevenage at the end of the week.

Artell told crewealex.net: “Chris just missed making it for Mansfield. He has had an injection and it seems to have worked. He will have another one and all we can do is see how he is this week.

“I would say it is not that serious and we will just have to see what time does. We’ll see how he is before we decide what we will do at the weekend.”
