Eddie Nolan is hoping that he will get the all-clear to face one of his former clubs, Scunthorpe United, on Sunday. The Irish defender missed the Boxing Day defeat at Salford due to a trapped nerve in the back, with Christian Mbulu partnering Nicky Hunt at the back.
Crewe lost the game 3-1 with Mbulu replaced at half-time by James Jones, with Ryan Wintle switching back to centre-half.
Nolan has a muscular problem in his back but is improving each day.
David Artell told the club’s official website: “It is a matter of time with Eddie. We’ll just have to wait and see how he is. He is improving each day, so that is a positive.
“He has a trapped nerve in his back and you just have to wait for these things. He is doing everything he possibly can to be fit, so we’ll have to see how he is on Saturday.”
