Mornflake And Whitby Morrison

17 December 2019

Saturday afternoon saw not one, but two landmarks at the Alexandra Stadium. As principal partner Mornflake and away stand sponsor Whitby Morrison both reached significant milestones in their long association with the Football Club.

For Mornflake, it was the 750th competitive Crewe Alexandra game that their logo has appeared on the front of the Alex shirt. The partnership is now running into a 15th consecutive season, making it amongst the longest serving front of shirt sponsorship in the EFL. It is a partnership of great pride for the Gresty Road business as explained by Managing Director James Lea.

Speaking with BBC Radio Stoke ahead of the game on Saturday he explained: “It’s a partnership that we really value. It’s been a long time that we have been involved but it has gone very quickly.

“We will never forget seeing our shirts at Wembley and to see the Club doing well really is important because it gives the town a real boost."

Also celebrating on Saturday was Operations Director at Whitby Morrison Ed Whitby as the iconic Whitby Morrison Ice Cream Van Stand celebrated it’s 200th game.

“The stand has become a bit of a laughing stock in football and people think what on earth is that about!” joked Ed.

“But people have openly taken notice about the association with Crewe, the town, and the ice cream vans that we produce."

The Football Club presented Mornflake and Whitby Morrison with signed shirts on Saturday to mark the occasion, and Commercial and Marketing Manager at the club James Beckett spoke of the importance of the partnerships.

“It really is so telling to have long term relationships like this.” explained James.

“To have two large local companies with such a long affinity to the Football Club speaks volumes for what we try to do.

“Things are moving forward at the Football Club at the minute and a big factor in that is the support we get from our partners.”

The positive outlook for the future was a view echoed by Ed who added: “It’s been a great start to the season and there is a real feel good factor about the Club at the minute both on and off the pitch. We are going to go places.”
