Artell: "We Will Prepare As Normal And Await News"

6 December 2019

David Artell has told the club’s official website that his staff and squad have trained and prepared as normal this week. The Alex boss admits that he still unsure if Saturday’s Cheshire derby at Macclesfield Town will take place or not at the Moss Rose.

The Macclesfield players are set to meet representatives from the EFL later this morning to see if the situation can be resolved in time for us to play tomorrow.

Artell told the club’s official website: “The most I know is that the EFL and the Macclesfield players are set to meet and we should know something by lunchtime. That is as far as I know and we will train and prepare as normal and wait for the news.

“I want to play the game and I think the game should be played for football reasons. It is difficult, I have been in the position as a player myself but for me the integrity of football and competition is paramount.

“This has been rumbling on for a long time at Macclesfield . There have been rumours for over year now and it is not nice for any of them there. The blame is directed towards one man, the owner and I hope it gets resolved and we can play the game because it is football that suffers when things get messy like this.”
