Daniel Powell is returning to his early season form according to his boss David Artell. Powell has returned from an ankle injury to score three goals in his last three appearances over Christmas and Artell is delighted with his contribution of late.
Powell scored a brace against Scunthorpe to make sure we ended 2019 on a high note and despite a rate defeat on Boxing Day at Salford, the Alex boss was quick to point out that he thought the winger was our best performer on the day.
Artell says of the former MK Dons and Northampton man: “Daniel is playing really well. He has done so since he came back from his injury. He has scored three in three and we need him to be getting 12 plus, so he knows he has to do better in the second half of the season.
“He is a good player and there is more to come from him. I thought he was our best player at Salford. He was one of the shining lights for us on the day because he performed something like it in both halves.
“He has to keep that going now and continue to score and assist goals. He has done well for us of late and if he does that then we stays in the team because he is aware of the competition around him.
“He gives us a different dimension and he has shown that he can take a goal.”
