U18 Report: Crewe 1-2 Charlton Athletic

29 August 2019

Crewe Alexandra Under 18s tasted defeat for the first time in the new 2019/20 season when Charlton Athletic took all three points from Reaseheath thanks to a 2-1 scoreline.

Joe Robbins score for the Alex in the first half, but the Addicks were already two up at that stage & managed to see out the victory in the second period.

The visitors took the lead early on, the right winger breaking into the box & firing a low shot across goal that snuck into the far corner with pinpoint accuaracy - with the aid of the post.

Charlton were two up inside 35 minutes, Crewe losing possession in the defensive third with the overlapping right-back playing a low cross into the box & the striker taking the opportunity to calmly slot into the corner.

Robbins did pull one back immediately from the restart following a neat flowing move upfield. He cut in from the left & curled a shot into the far corner with the ball finding its way in via a defender.

That was that for the goalscoring as the Addicks held off the Alex in the second half to record the points.

Goals: Robbins (35)

Crewe: Walklate, Allen, Woodthorpe (Stubbs, 70), Hartshorn (Lomas, 57), Southern, Green, Priestman, Robbins (c), Lokko (Levey, 74), Onyeka, Djalo
