Daniel Powell says it is important to move on quickly from Saturday’s 3-0 defeat to Plymouth Argyle. The summer signing from Northampton admits that we came up against one of the division’s top sides but the main positive was the amount of decent chances we created ourselves.
Powell was instrumental in creating the best of them in the first half and although disappointed with the result, he was encouraged by the overall performance, especially in the second half.
After the opening game, Powell told iFollow The Alex: “There were a lot of positives to take, we played good football in the second half and if we’d have got the third goal we could have got something from the game.
“We came up against a good team. Whoever finishes above Plymouth will be going up this season.
“I just think the first goal was important. They got it and it put them on the front foot. They got the second quite soon after and then it was hard for us to come back from it.
“My chance should have gone in really but the keeper made a good save.
“But we’ve a good pre-season, it is a good team here and I think we could do something this season.
“I’ve seen these boys play in training every day and there are some really good footballers here, so young lads who can kick on.
Powell added: “They keep the ball on the floor which helps, I don’t think anyone wants to play with the ball in the air, and I think I can help with the growing of these lads.”
