David Artell believes that his summer signing Daniel Powell has added an extra dimension to the Crewe Alexandra attack with his directness and willingness to get into the opposition penalty area.
The former MK Dons and Northampton man is yet to get off the mark for his new club but he has been a thorn in the side of both Plymouth and Oldham so far.
On Saturday, Powell’s effectiveness saw him win the decisive penalty that was converted by Chris Porter to give Crewe a deserved 2-1 win at Boundary Park.
Following the 2-1 win over the Latics, the Alex boss said: “Daniel has had two good games for us and he was certainly effective against Oldham.
“He knows he has to score and create goals for us and how he hasn’t scored I don’t know but he has created the winning goal by being brought down for the penalty. I am sure the left-back had a sleepless night after the game because Daniel was so effective.
“He came off with a touch of cramp, so he is fine.”
