David Artell hailed Ryan Wintle as ‘our best defender’ against Plymouth Argyle and says that the midfielder has a bright future in the game.
Wintle once again showed his versatility again to fill in at centre-half for the injured Olly Lancashire and Nicky Hunt against Plymouth Argyle and Artell says that the 22-year-old has the ability and knowledge to play in various roles in defence and in midfield.
Artell says of the former Alsager man: “Ryan was our best defender on Saturday and he has a bright future in the game because he is a terrific player.
“Wherever he plays, he does a good job for the team and he has that versatility to play at right-back, centre-back, as the holding or the high midfield. I am not sure what he is like as a striker but he is comfortable in any of those defensive or midfield positions.
He added: “He played centre-half at Plymouth down there a few years ago and he was brilliant that day as well.“
