Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell says that he and his staff are still plugging away behind the scenes to bring in new faces before the end of the summer transfer window.
The transfer window for League One and League Two is open until 2nd September and lower league clubs are still permitted to sign players from Premier League and Championship clubs.
Artell told the club’s official website: “The window is still open for us and we remain hopeful of doing something.
“We are plugging away at it and hopefully there will be some news in the next few days and few weeks we have left.
“There is something on the back burner and it just depends how long the burner is on for.”
