David Artell admits that he is surprised that no-one has made an enquiry about the availability for any of his young players.
The Crewe boss says he was relieved man to see the transfer window close for Premier League and Championship clubs before their seasons kicked off and he is surprised that his phone hasn’t rung over the summer.
EFL clubs in League One and League Two can still do business with Ipswich Town reportedly ready to buy a right-back from Colchester United.
When questioned about the lack of interest, Artell told crewealex.net: “I am surprised yes. We have some very good young players here and they proved that against a Championship club on Tuesday night on a bigger stage.
“I see that Ipswich have offered £500,000 for Colchester’s right-back, well if they do they have missed out on the best right-back in the division because he is here. Perry Ng is the best right-back in League Two and if that means he stays with us until at least January then that only benefits my team.
“Pez is not the only one either. I think we have four or five who are primed to go on and play a higher level. First and foremost though, they are still here and that is great for me as a manager.”
