David Artell has reiterated that our away form has to improve if we are going to be serious contenders for a play-off place.

Crewe start their away campaign at Oldham Athletic this weekend and Artell wants his side to start showing more consistency on their travels after only winning four away games last season.

The Alex boss told the club’s official website: “We all know that our away results were not good enough last season and that is something we need to address.

“We have spoken about as a group and implemented one or two things as well. We showed against the likes of MK Dons, Mansfield and Swindon that we are good enough to go away from home and get a result. We are good enough to do that at Oldham this weekend.

“We scored a late goal there last season and deserved it. We gave away an awful goal from our perspective and it was a tough game on a real tricky pitch. I think Oldham were the first to admit that the pitch wasn’t good last year but we have to play on tricky pitches and that isn’t an excuse.

“We have to get on with things and go there and show what we can do.”
