Artell: "Hope The Fans Create A Similar Atmosphere Again"

16 August 2019

David Artell is hoping that Gresty Road can generate a crescendo of noise again to rival that of the opening day of the season against Plymouth Argyle. With Crewe Alexandra chasing a 2-0 half-time deficit, the Alex fans really got behind the team as they continued to press the Plymouth goal in search of that one goal that could have changed the complexion of the game.

Artell was impressed with the noise coming from the Main Stand and described it as the ‘loudest he had heard it for many years.’

Ahead of what should be another great atmosphere at the Alexandra Stadium with Walsall selling their allocation of tickets.

Artell told the club’s official website: “I think that in the last home game against Plymouth, the main stand made more noise than I can remember. They were right behind us as we tried to get that goal back. We couldn’t quite get it to make that difference but they saw the effort the lads put in and they clapped us off.

“They kept us going and were terrific. I hope they turn up again and get behind us like they did against Plymouth.

He added: “Walsall are bringing a lot of fans I hear, so it should be another good atmosphere inside the ground.”
