'Would Be A Great Achievement To Finish With The Most Home Wins'

18 April 2019

David Artell says that recording the most home wins in League Two this season would be a fantastic achievement. Crewe will have to win their remaining two home games against Yeovil Town and Forest Green Rovers to stand any chance of finishing top of that particular table. Crewe have impressively won 13 games at home this season and we are currently one game behind Tranmere Rovers. The likes of Bury, Mansfield and MK Dons have also won 13.

On the flipside to that, Crewe have recorded the least number of away victories this season, winning just three at Stevenage, MK Dons and Mansfield.

Ahead of our Good Friday clash with the Glovers, Artell told crewealex.net: “We have 13 home wins and that is promotion form but we haven’t won nearly enough points away from home.

“To finish with the most home wins in League Two is a nice target to go for. If we win both games then we would be close to it, and that is a great achievement.

“It would be nice to set the standard of 15 home wins in a season and then go out next season and try to replicate that over 23 games again.

The boss added: “There is always something to play for, both as individuals and as a team. A  player may want to score some goals and get into double figures, double figures for assists or get more clean-sheets. There is a lot to aim for but you have to do it as a team and get your teammates to help you achieve it.”
