"Our Players Will Not Be On The Beach"

26 April 2019

Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell says that that none of his players ‘will be on the beach’ with two games to go against Forest Green Rovers and Grimsby Town at Blundell Park at our final away game.

Crewe go into our weekend home fixture against Forest Green on the back of three straight wins, and Artell is aiming to finish the season with 15 points from a possible 15 if possible.

Ahead of the final two games, the Crewe boss said: “It is one of my pet hates than people talk about players being on the beach or in their deckchairs or whatever. They are professional footballers and there is always something to play for. I’ve said it all along that there is plenty to play for.

“We want to end the season on a high and games in April and May are no different to games in August, September and October. We want to win all games and get as many points as we can.

“We want to finish as high as we can and we approach things no differently because there are two games left.

“We have found that is important to finish as high as we can and the players still have personal goals to go for. Can they get a game in? Can they score their first goal? Can they add to their assists or clean-sheets?

“That is how they will approach things and our focus is to win the final home game and then get another away win at Grimsby next week.”
