"No Better Game To Get Back To Winning Ways Than Away At Port Vale"

First team coach Alex Morris reveals that confidence remains high in the Crewe camp

First team coach Alex Morris says that following a disappointing home defeat there is no better game to look forward to than a local derby.

Crewe will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing 3-1 defeat to Cheltenham Town and Morris says that a win at Vale Park would be the perfect tonic.

Morris, who took the first-team players training today said: “There is no better game than a local derby. It is the ideal one to get back on track and it is always one to look forward to.

“If we can play well and control the game then we know we have all the capabilities to win the game. We have shown that we can beat any team in this league and have recently won at MKI Dons and Mansfield, so we have to try and reach those levels again.

“The confidence is still high in the camp and it should be.

“It is always a bit different because of what it means for the fans. They want the bragging rights going into work on Monday morning, we know that but our planning does not change dramatically.

“We try and avoid our players getting high charged and wasting that energy in the week when they will need it most at 3pm to ten to five on Saturday.”
