Boss: "I Will Continue To Tinker In Last Two Games"

26 April 2019

Crewe Alexandra manager David Artell says he will continue to tinker with his team and squad with two games of the season remaining.

The Alex boss has already handed league debuts to goalkeeper Will Jaaskelainen and Billy Sass-Davies and recalled Tom Lowery to his starting XI. Youngsters such as Owen Dale and Lewis Reilly will be hoping for more opportunities for the final two games against Forest Green Rovers at Gresty Road and then away at Grimsby on the final day.

The Alex boss told the club’s official website: “I’ve tinkered with the team over the last three, four, five games but also respected the essence of competition. Everyone thought that Notts County and Yeovil would be dead rubbers for us but we showed that we have plenty to play for too.

“We want to end the season well and win these last two games. I have tinkered with the team and given Will and Billy their league debuts. Tom has come back in after playing 30 plus games last season.

“I’ve played players in different positions and tried one or two things. I am looking forward to the future and  trying to get ahead of the curve. We have respected the competition and we still have a big prize to go for if we can win our two games. It is very unlikely but we have to win on Saturday and see where we are.

“The play-offs are improbable for us but we have to do our part to give ourselves that outside chance.”
